Why We Invested in StreamAlive : The Future of Live Engagement

Dhanush Ram

We at Speciale Invest are thrilled to lead a $1.5M pre-seed round in StreamAlive and partner with the team in their mission to revolutionize livestreams and live events. The round also saw participation from other marquee investors — founders of private-company software unicorns, MIT professors, CEOs of public companies, and senior executives at various companies.

(L to R) Joseph (Joe) Varghese, Lakyntina (Tina) Lyngdoh & Lakshmanan (Lux) Narayan (Co-founders of StreamAlive)

On MilkRoad — ShannVP said, “the great Kevin Van Trump once told him that when something has real demand…there’s always a 2nd and 3rd chance to get on the train.”

We’ve known Lux, Tina and Joe for a decade now and missed jumping on their 1st train station (Unmetric, that was acquired by Falcon in 2019). So here we are on board their train at their 2nd station — StreamAlive.

We had the opportunity to work with the founders during their ideation phase of the product. Having known Lux’s credentials as an industry insider, creator and seller, the founder-market fit became quite apparent for us.

We at Speciale deeply value founders that have earned a secret or an insight around a massive problem that outsiders don’t understand, and StreamAlive is a perfect example of this principle.

The pandemic has transformed the way we perceive work and interaction. In less than 2 years, in-person of all shapes and sizes — from live music concerts to town halls — have come to a screeching halt, only to be been replaced by virtual conferences, work meetings, and teleconferences. The entire global events industry has been completely disrupted, to never be the same again. We made the shift to living in an online, remote world.

To accommodate this new world order, new methods of engagement have gained traction. Live streaming has become an increasingly popular way for companies, entertainers and influencers to reach audiences across the globe. Like every glacial market shift, this has given birth to the Creator Economy.

The creator economy is expected to be $100 billion. YouTube alone was expected to earn over $30 billion in 2021.

As creators and companies increasingly adopt live streams across YouTube, Zoom, Twitch, Teams etc, the live stream chat box has become the easiest way to connect with the audience. However, in a group livestream with over 30+ participants, it’s fairly easy for a creator/streamer to miss out on what is happening because of how fast the comments fly by. As a result, 95% of the audience is usually ignored and consequently unengaged. Haven’t we all experienced this ourselves — on Ankur Warikoo’s Youtube Live, Nathan Latka’s SaaS webinars, Live product launch in Zoom and others?

The rules of live engagement have changed but the tools of engagement have not.

StreamAliveA unique SaaS platform aimed at streamers and creators who want to engage with their live audience in all major streaming and meeting platforms — from YouTube to Zoom and from Twitch to Teams, even simultaneously. As the comments keep coming in, the StreamAlive engine will read the room in real-time. It analyses the interactions using NLP, sentiment analysis and generates audio recommendations for the creators.

Excited? We highly recommend you check it out and share it with your favorite streamer! Here is the link to StreamAlive’s world.

  • If you’re a fan, you can interact and connect with your favourite streamers.
  • If you’re a streamer, it becomes easier for you to engage with your fans in a fun, unique, and native way.

Either way, you’ll love it!

Speciale has been in awe of the team’s capacity to innovate and execute during a time when the market is experiencing tectonic shifts. We believe the StreamAlive team has big plans for how they are going to change the world of live streaming engagement. It’s early days for this industry, and we are excited to be building the future together!
